The Southern California Apple Valley has no apples that I'm aware of, it's fairly arid but still filled with rich colors.

Hi Nathan, I grew up just south of the Mormon Rocks in Fontana. Those washes coming down from the mountains were favorite subjects when I was in high school. Nice piece!
